Your child's privacy

An account holds the email you signed up with, the profile from onboarding (name, age, level, languages), your word lists, and practice progress — XP, coins, streaks, badges. That is what makes the app work; there is no advertising profile behind it.

We keep the wrong spellings children type, combined across many children and never linked to any child, to make practice better (for example, to show the mistakes children make most often).

❌ Nothing from students who open a shared link. No account, no email, no name — practising a shared list collects nothing about the person doing it. That is why a teacher can send a link to a whole class without a permission slip.

❌ No ads, no ad tracking, and no selling of data to anyone.

Some features use AI: definitions, list generation, and worksheet scanning send the words — or the worksheet photo — to OpenAI for processing, and the result comes back to your account. AI requests carry words, not people: no student name, email or identity is attached, and a student practising through a shared link has no identity in Spelly to attach in the first place. The classroom setup we recommend is teacher-account-only: the teacher holds the one and only account, and students practise through shared links — no student accounts, no student emails, no student data collected, nothing to enroll and nothing to delete at year end.

The optional Track my class feature — offered only on a list marked as a school test — keeps the same model: the teacher types a roster of first names only (like a class handout), students tap their name on the shared link, and results attach to those teacher-provided names — still no student accounts, emails, or self-submitted data.

What that leaves to review is small: the teacher's own account data (email, profile, lists, progress), the roster first names the teacher chose to type, and the OpenAI processing described above. No ads, no ad tracking, no selling of data.

You can delete your account and its data from ⚙️ Settings, or by emailing support@spelly.net from the account's address. Deletion removes the profile, lists and progress.
