New in Spelly: built for test week
Every week, millions of kids bring home the same thing: about twenty spelling words, a few starred "challenge words", and a test on Friday. Spelly now mirrors that exact ritual — and for teachers, one shared link can now show who practiced and who didn't, still without a single student account.
Mark it as a test
When you save a list, one new toggle — "This is for a school test" — turns it into what it really is. Add the test date and the list's card starts counting down: Test in 3 days. Test tomorrow. Test today! The list with the nearest test automatically moves to the front of the home screen, so the current week is always the first thing your child sees.
Tap ⭐ on any word to mark it a challenge word — the harder, extra-credit words most tests include. They play last, just like on the real test sheet, they show a ⭐×2 badge during the round, and they pay double XP when spelled right. The results screen reports them on their own line: Challenge words: 2/3.

Track your class from one link
Sharing a list with a class has always been one link, no student accounts, no student emails. Now — with Premium — that same link can also answer the question every teacher asks on Thursday: who actually practiced?
Type your class roster once — first names only — and turn on Track my class in the share dialog. Students open the same single link, tap their name, and practice exactly as before: no sign-up, nothing typed, nothing collected. Your results view fills in as they go: who finished, their best score, and who hasn't started — the missing names being the ones you actually need to know about.
The privacy model doesn't move an inch. The names come from you, the way a class handout does; students still have no accounts, no emails, and no identity in Spelly beyond the first name their teacher typed. Two kids named Dana? Add an initial — each name is its own row, so nothing collides.
Big lists, small bites
One more change for the planners: a list longer than 30 words — a whole year of grade words, say — no longer launches as one enormous session. It plays in 10-word parts, with the card showing where you are: Part 3/26. Finish a part, and next time the list picks up where you left off. A normal weekly test list still plays whole, in one round, exactly as before.
